The Fight for Healthcare in Pennsylvania

Hostital Chester CrozerRadio MILPA

In Untold Stories from Radio Milpa, we explore the crisis caused by the closure of hospitals in Delaware County, where thousands of healthcare workers have lost their jobs and communities have been left without vital medical care. Through testimonies like Dawn’s—whose husband survived thanks to the Crozer-Chester hospital—and the voices of nurses and activists, a painful reality becomes clear: when profit is placed above people, communities are left unprotected. Organizations such as People First and the National Nonviolent Medicaid Army are demanding the reopening of the hospital under public and community control. In a recent act of civil disobedience, they remind us that healthcare is not a privilege, but a human right worth fighting for.
