Communications Coordinator Job Description

Movement of Immigrant Leaders in Pennsylvania (MILPA) is a network of families working to ensure that our human needs become rights through facilitation of education, organizing and civic participation for social, political and economic changes that ensure the dignity of every person in our Commonwealth. MILPA emerged from a struggle for driver’s licenses for immigrant families and organizes the Driving PA Forward Coalition, a growing coalition of communities and organizations working to change the law to allow access to a driver’s license for all Pennsylvanians, regardless of immigration status. 

MILPA is hiring a part-time coordinator starting October 2021.

Coordinator Role and Responsibilities: 

  • Management of MILPA social media, creating regular graphics and flyers for MILPA education and organizing activities. Share updates from MILPA fights and content related to MILPA values and principles across MILPA social media platforms. 

  • Create regular update on MILPA website,

  • Draft press advisories and press releases for MILPA events 

  • Manage and further cultivate state, national and international coverage of MILPA fights.  Draft press advisories and press releases for MILPA events and campaigns.   

  • Develop and work with MILPA members who speak at MILPA press events 

  • Create regular email newsletters and communications to members and supporters 

Qualification and Education Requirements: 

This person will be someone who loves and believes in the dignity and rights of all people, is someone who fights hard for the wellbeing of Pennsylvania communities, will have experience in team building, human rights, organizing and leadership education. This person will work closely with the State-wide Coordinator and as part of a statewide coordinating team. 

Requirements for this position include: 

  • Fluent in English and Spanish 

  • Ability to drive to MILPA events and trainings in various parts of the Pennsylvania 

  • Communications experience 

  • Graphic design experience 

  • Experience with online organizing tools and technology 

  • Ability to manage projects and work in teams 

This is a part time position at 25 hours per week and includes healthcare benefits.  This position will be evaluated in 2022 with the possibility of becoming full-time. Please send questions or your resume and cover letter to with the subject title, MILPA Communications Coordinator.
